Courtney was raised in Plainview, Texas. She graduated in 2016 from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. After graduation, she interned in the Texas House during the 85^th Legislative Session in 2017. She then worked in insurance subrogation before attending St. Mary’s University School of Law, where she graduated as a John Marshall Harlan Society scholar in 2023. She was a member of Phi Delta Phi and a staff writer on the St. Mary’s University Law Journal. While in school, she clerked in-house for a major insurance carrier before joining Valdez & Trevino.
