Jose "JJ" Treviño Jr. featured speaker at the 21st Annual Soaking Up Some CLE Course

Proud to share that our partner, Jose “JJ” Treviño Jr., was a featured speaker at the 21st Annual Soaking Up Some CLE: A South Texas Litigation Course, hosted by TexasBarCLE at the Margaritaville Beach Resort on South Padre Island.

JJ presented “Successful Use of AI: A Defense Perspective,” addressing how defense attorneys can leverage artificial intelligence ethically and effectively, from understanding the technology and its limitations to implementing the guardrails every firm needs to protect clients and comply with evolving ethics rules.

As AI reshapes the practice of law, Valdez & Treviño remains committed to staying at the forefront, not just adopting new tools, but understanding when and how to use them responsibly.

Thank you to TexasBarCLE and the course planning committee and Frank Guerra for putting together an outstanding program, and to every attorney investing in their continued education on this critical topic.

Valdez & Treviño is proud to announce that our firm has been named a Best Law Firm for 2026 by Best Lawyers, earning multiple regional distinctions including:

  • Regional Tier 1 San Antonio – Insurance Litigation

  • Regional Tier 2 San Antonio – Commercial Litigation

This recognition is especially meaningful because Best Law Firms honors are not purchased or pay-to-play. They are awarded through a rigorous evaluation process that includes:

  • Client and professional reference feedback on expertise, responsiveness, and overall quality

  • Independent analysis of firm achievements and consistency within each practice area

Together, these rankings reflect the strong respect we have earned from both the legal community and the clients who rely on our work.

We are grateful for the trust placed in us and remain committed to delivering strong, strategic defense for our clients throughout Texas.

Thank you to our team, our clients, and our colleagues for making these honors possible.

Protecting Our Client’s Rights Through Mandamus Relief

V&T is pleased to share that Joseph E. Cuellar successfully obtained mandamus relief in the Thirteenth Court of Appeals. The trial court ordered our client to produce a confidential document and declined to vacate the order, even though the case had already settled before the deadline for compliance. Recognizing that settlement had resolved all substantive disputes, the Court of Appeals granted relief to ensure our client’s rights were protected.
